The Lemelson Foundation supports several U.S. grantees that develop and deliver hands-on invention opportunities, particularly for girls and minority youth, and that highlight innovation as a driving force in solving problems and advancing human progress.
Design for the Other 90%
Initially presented at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Design for the Other 90% is a traveling exhibition that highlights innovations created for the 90% of the world's population surviving under the poverty level or recovering from a natural disaster.

The African-American Male Achiever's Network
The African-American Male Achiever's Network, Inc. (A-MAN) encourages underserved children to develop skills in math, science and business through programs in Los Angeles County and South Africa.

The Lemelson Center for Invention, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (LCIIE) at the University of Nevada, Reno, fosters curriculum development in invention, innovation, and patent law.

WGBH
The single largest producer of PBS prime-time programming, WGBH uses Lemelson Foundation funding to support Design Squad – a PBS reality television show where teens tackle fun engineering challenges. WGBH also implements the Mentors for Young Inventors program, which provides after-school invention mentoring for underserved youth.

Lemelson Assistive Technology Development Center
Lemelson Assistive Technology Development Center (LATDC) at Hampshire College in Massachusetts provides students with experiential education in applied design, invention, and entrepreneurship, focusing on universal design and the development of adaptive equipment for people with disabilities.
