August 10, 2010 – The Lemelson-MIT Program is seeking nominations for their annual awards, the $500,000 Lemelson-MIT Prize and the $100,000 Lemelson-MIT Award for Sustainability.

August 4, 2010 – This week's Techonomy Conference (of which The Lemelson Foundation is a sponsor) is bringing some of the world's foremost thought leaders together to discuss how technology can and is driving economic growth. The first annual event, held in Lake Tahoe, started yesterday and concludes tomorrow.

Among the various presenters is a group of Ashoka-Lemelson Fellows who will be discussing – along with Ashoka founder Bill Drayton – the value of partnerships between businesses and citizen sector organizations to transform markets and meet critical needs.

July 15, 2010 – Last Tuesday's PBS NewHour has a great piece about KickStart International, one of The Foundation's Technology Dissemination grantees. KickStart is an international non-profit working in East Africa on innovative ways to increase access to clean water through the use of foot pumps.

July 13, 2010 - Congrats to Greenlight Planet – which started a few years ago as a National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA) E-Team from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign – for winning the "Solar For All" Design Contest.

July 9, 2010 – Congratulations to our friends at D.light Design, who are having a fantastic run the last couple of weeks. On June 24, it was announced they had just closed a $5.5 million (USD) Series B financing round, led by the Omidyar Network. To follow that up, on July 1, D.light Design was awarded the prestigious Ashden Award for Sustainable Energy, the world's leading green energy prize.

June 29, 2010 (Portland, OR) – For the second year in a row, Oregon MESA’s (Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Achievement) teams placed near the top in the MESA National Engineering Design Competition. The middle school team from Ockley Green School placed second overall, and the high school team from Franklin High School placed third overall in the annual competition that was held in Denver, Colorado from June 24-26, 2010.
