Developing Country Program

Unleashing human creativity to improve lives through invention

The Lemelson Foundation believes creativity is an innate aspect of being human, but not every society has promoted innovation and invention. Given our core belief that invention and innovation are crucial for a society's economic development, our developing country programs nurture student and grassroots inventors and help build businesses that design and deliver life-improving technologies.

  • Recognition and Mentoring Programs (RAMPs) provide prototype development, marketing and commercialization assistance to student and grassroots inventors.
  • A portfolio of Enterprise Development projects supports organizations and enterprises that design, prototype, market and deliver socially beneficial innovations to those who need them most. (PLEASE NOTE: We're no longer accepting new proposals in this portfolio area.)
