Leveraging Experience to Mentor Innovators

The newest of the Recognition and Mentoring Programs (RAMPs), RAMP Peru was established in 2007 with a partnership between the Non-Profit Enterprise Self-sustainability Team (NESsT), the International Potato Center - Consorcio para el Desarrollo Sostenible de la Ecorregion Andina (IPC-CONDESAN), and Grupo de Apoyo al Sector Rural del Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (Grupo-PUCP).

RAMP Peru is actively identifying and mentoring grassroots and student inventors in three Peruvian states – Cajamarca, Cusco and Puno – due to their higher than average poverty levels.

Leveraging their partners' areas of expertise, RAMP Peru helps to incubate invention-based enterprises that disseminate life-improving devices to poor communities with:

  • Pre–Incubation Mentoring to assist inventors in applying for RAMP support, whereas those innovations with more technical and business potential are selected for support.
  • Assisting inventors in producing their innovations from proof of concept to prototype building to market testing, through advisory.
  • Supporting innovators in carrying out market research and developing formal business plans, through advisory.
  • Granting favorable financial schemes to those innovations’ projects that are ready for launching or scaling-up phases.
  • Partnering with regional universities and other relevant actors in order to enhance the Peruvian Innovation Eco-system and to nurture/foster technological innovation especially among students
