Adapting New Innovations to Answer the World’s Clean Water Crisis

Clean water is one of the most pressing public health issues of our time, with regional and global implications. The problem is more than simply providing access to clean water. Issues such as water contamination during storage and transport are leading the world’s innovators to develop solutions that are easy to use as well as affordable for the world’s poorest people.

The Aquaya Institute – a non-profit founded to improve health through clean water innovation – is adapting an organic anti-microbial compound to produce and disseminate products that can be used to easily, affordably and effectively reduce the risk of diarrhea caused by unsafe drinking water.

The Lemelson Foundation is bolstering Aquaya's efforts in the early stages of their research by funding product design specification and prototype testing as well as market research and user feedback generation.
