2011 Ramon Magsaysay Award Recipients include two partners

Congratulations to two Foundation partners awarded in late July the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award, often referred to as the “Asian Nobel Prize.”

Harish Hande, founder and managing director of Foundation-partner SELCO India, who was honored by Magsaysay for “his passionate and pragmatic efforts to put solar power technology in the hands of the poor … [bringing] customized, affordable, and sustainable electricity to India's vast rural populace encouraging the poor to become asset creators."

Also honored with a 2011 Magsaysay Award was Ashoka-Lemelson Fellow Tri Mumpuni for her work in providing electricity to 500,000 people in rural Indonesia.
