Happy (belated) New Years to everyone. The latest edition of the AshokaTech podcast was released late last week, featuring interviews with Mathias and Guillaume Craig, the cofounders of blueEnergy.
Half of Nicaragua's population of 5 million people and 75 percent of the population along the Caribbean coast do not have access to electricity. blueEnergy combats this with specially designed hybrid wind/solar energy systems to generate power under most weather conditions. In addition to their innovative technological solution to the energy problems in Nicaragua, blueEnergy's model revolves around local manufacture, operation and maintence of their systems – helping to grow rural economies with technical training and jobs.
