Congratulations to two Foundation partners awarded in late July the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award, often referred to as the “Asian Nobel Prize.”
Harish Hande, founder and managing director of Foundation-partner SELCO India, who was honored by Magsaysay for “his passionate and pragmatic efforts to put solar power technology in the hands of the poor … [bringing]customized, affordable, and sustainable electricity to India’s vast rural populace encouraging the poor to become asset creators.”
Also honored with a 2011 Magsaysay Award was Ashoka-Lemelson Fellow Tri Mumpuni for her work in providing electricity to 500,000 people in rural Indonesia.
