Engineer and entrepreneur Debbie Sterling began her career with one question: “Why aren’t more girls going into engineering?”
The Stanford Engineering graduate founded GoldieBlox in 2012 with a mission of introducing girls to STEM through hands-on, engaging toy products and fun shows led by female role models.
Her experience as an outnumbered woman in her university engineering class — and exercises building prototypes with construction toys — served as inspiration for her company.
She led GoldieBlox from one prototype to an award-winning company creating toy games, shows, and activities that have reached millions of children around the world.
