Nicole Mao

Nicole Mao is the co-founder and CEO of Tiger New Energy, a Bangladesh-based green technology company with a vision of making clean mobility accessible to all in emerging countries.
Bangladesh’s transit system relies heavily on electric three-wheelers, which require batteries that are durable, affordable, and safe. Mao co-founded Tiger New Energy with fellow Harvard Business School MBA Yiwei Zhu in 2021 to engineer a sustainable solution to this issue.

The company has created a battery swapping network in Bangladesh powered by renewable energy. When a driver needs a new battery, they can safely and easily exchange a depleted battery for a fully charged one in under a minute. Their reliable product and services have made this process safer for drivers and it also allows them to return to work faster and earn more.
Since its launch, the women-led company has helped reduce over 1,600 ton carbon emissions, contributed to the rise of local communities’ income, and increased the amount of women drivers participating in the network.
