Showcasing current inventors to inspire and inform key audiences about the need for a robust invention ecosystem.
A partnership between The Foundation and The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the AAAS-Lemelson Invention Ambassador Program is designed to celebrate and showcase inventors who are developing new products and services to improve lives locally and globally.
Each year, AAAS selects a new cohort of accomplished inventors interested in raising awareness and engaging influential audiences about the critical role of invention and the need for a robust invention ecosystem These talented individuals represent a range of fields, including global health, digital technology, cyber security, biomedical engineering, green chemistry, biodiversity and sustainability. The AAAS-Lemelson Invention Ambassadors highlight the range of perspective, culture, gender and expertise needed to address today’s most pressing challenges.
The ambassadors are deployed to speak to varied audiences across the country, including students, education leaders, STEM professionals, policy makers and other stakeholders, to promote the need for systems and policies that will enable inventors to succeed and inspire students to see themselves as future inventors and change-makers. In addition, they seek to expand the global understanding of the role of invention in creating social, economic and environmental progress, and promote the need to increase access to invention education.
Over the past five years, AAAS has recognized 40 inventors as Invention Ambassadors who collectively hold more than 1,800 patents. AAAS provides the Ambassadors with support, training and the platform to effectively engage audiences across the U.S. and globally.
