Improving lives through invention

The Case for Invention Education

Invention Education gives students practical experience in solving real-world problems and prepares them for the economy of the future. Massachusetts high school teacher (and Lemelson-MIT Master Teacher) Doug Scott has fully embraced the concept in his classroom, and found that it transformed the way his students engage with STEM curriculum.

“We have students who are suddenly more invested in the learning experience and are driving their own education,” says Scott. “My shop doors are always open because students can’t seem to stay away from working on their inventions outside of class time.”

In the latest Invention Notebook article, Scott tells the story of how he came to teach Invention Education and why he’s passionate about bringing it to students across the country.
