Bosco Kante

(Bosco Kante: ElectroSpit)

Before he was a Grammy-award winning producer and entrepreneur with a stage name of Bosko, Bosco Kante was born in Accra, Ghana, and raised in Portland, Oregon, in a family of educators and musicians.

After participating in the Oregon MESA invention education program at Grant High School, he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California. There he sought out ways to combine his passion for music with technology. As a college junior, he composed the theme track for the show “In Living Color,” and kickstarted his music production career.

His strong interest in vocal effects inspired him to innovate the design of the traditional talk box — a tool that projects speech sounds onto a musical instrument.

This ultimately led to the invention of ElectroSpit ESX-1, a lightweight, portable phone-enabled talk box. He co-founded the hardware startup company ElectroSpit, Inc. in 2014. Using his invention, Kante has been featured in collaborations on Grammy-winning albums by renowned artists like Stevie Wonder, Missy Elliot, and Dua Lipa.

In addition to his work in music technology, Kante is committed to expanding access to technology and entrepreneurship. In 2020, he founded HiiiWAV, a nonprofit based in Oakland, California, that offers mentorship and training for the rising generation of Black artists and entrepreneurs.
