Lisa Gelobter

Lisa Gelobter is a vital figure in the internet technologies used by people globally. From GIFs to Hulu, she pioneered the way we experience and consume digital media.

In the late 1990s, she was a part of the team that invented Shockwave, a platform that led to the emergence of multimedia on the internet. Later, she provided integral leadership to the emergence of online video at the video hosting company Brightcove, and the launch of the streaming service Hulu in 2007.

Her career spans digital strategy, business operations, and product development, as well as policy and public service. She was the Chief Digital Service Officer for the U.S. Department of Education during the Obama administration, and acting Chief Digital Officer for BET Networks.

​Gelobter is also passionate about creating inclusive spaces, and co-founded tEQuitable, a digital platform that helps companies address issues of bias, harassment, and discrimination in the workplace. ​
